The good thing is that there are a lot of ways which you can do on your own to eradicate such smell and give your floors that clean and refreshed look.

How to Clean Carpets on Your Own

  • Using a cloth, mix water and detergent together.
  • In order to get those loose particles out of the carpet, vacuum the floor two times in different directions. Make sure that you start with a cleaner bag to avoid dust particles and other kinds of dirt to be left behind.
  • Wipe down stained portions with the cloth dipped into the soap and water mixture. Allow the solution to soak for a few minutes in case the spits or stains are tough to remove. This time, set aside the cloth and use a carpet brush to scrub the stain in various directions. Repeat the process until the surface is clear of stains.
  • Use old sheets or towels to take the excess liquid out of the carpet.
  • This procedure can be done once more but this time, the cloth will be soaked in plain water instead of detergent and water mixture. Make sure you are able to rinse off all the detergent because the latter is capable of picking up dirt quickly.
  • At the end of the process, vacuum the carpet once more to make sure it is completely dry and free from dust and dirt. [Read more…]
